Administrative Services Assistant III (UCP IV)
Office of the Dean

The School of Nursing Office of the Dean at the University of Connecticut invites applications for an Administrative Services Assistant III position.  This individual will serve as the Assistant to the Dean.  Under the general direction of the Dean, he/she manages a number of administrative functions in the School of Nursing.  Responsibilities include performing office management duties; maintaining and monitoring department/unit budget and records; reviewing administrative and internal operation procedures for efficiency and effectiveness and recommends improvements (detailed job description).

Minimum Qualifications:  Bachelor’s degree  or equivalent combination of education and experience including four to eight years experience in a progressively responsible administrative support position; organizational and supervisory ability; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with the department/University staff and other individuals and groups; ability to resolve administrative problems efficiently, effectively and independently; ability to devise, modify and/or supervise the maintenance of complex filing and record keeping systems; must be able to effectively prioritize and work with minimal supervision and maintain complete confidentiality; teamwork and collaboration are essential; strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PeopleSoft; willingness to work flexible and irregular hours as needed.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, permanent position.  Salary is commensurate with experience.

Adjunct Faculty Positions 

Faculty are needed for the UConn MbEIN program at Waterbury and Stamford campuses; days, evenings and/or weekends. Classroom and clinical teaching opportunities in all nursing areas including simulation laboratory. Clinical Instructor or Clinical Assistant Professor Position

Appointment rank will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Responsibilities include teaching across levels, scholarship, and professional service.

Resources include an 800 sq. ft. research lab, which is equipped with 16 networked PCs with qualitative, quantitative, and other research-related software; internet access; and desktop links to UCONN’s library. Research support personnel are available through the CNS, including a biostatistician, a writer/editor, and support staff.

Minimum qualifications for these positions include:
For Clinical Instructor Appointment: Masters degree in nursing; experience as a direct care provider; eligibility for professional nursing licensure in Connecticut. Teaching experience and specialty certification preferred.

For Clinical Assistant Professor: Masters degree in nursing; certification in clinical specialty area; teaching experience; beginning evidence of scholarship of application.  Certification as nurse educator is preferred.

Appointment type and rank will be commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Responsibilities include teaching across levels, scholarship, and professional service.

In–residence positions, which require a doctoral degree in nursing or related field, promote the opportunity for entry into the UCONN system without the pressure of the tenure clock. Accomplished clinicians with master’s preparations are eligible for appointment as clinical faculty.

For In-Residence Appointment: An earned doctorate in nursing or related field; Masters degree in nursing; beginning program of research and scholarship or evidence of potential scholarly accomplishments; highly developed teaching skills involving diverse student populations; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; specialty certification when possible; and eligibility for professional nursing licensure in Connecticut. A record of peer-reviewed publications and funded grants required for the ranks of associate and full professor in-residence
